Indianapolis Artsgarden: The downtown information hub for Indy arts & attractions
One of the most spectacular examples of creative building design in Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Artsgarden provides a dazzling glass-enclosed environment for more than 350 free performances and exhibits each year.
Constructed in 1995, the Artsgarden, a seven-story tall, glass-enclosed structure literally located just above a major intersection in downtown Indy, also houses one of the city's visitor centers, featuring information about Indy's cultural scene as well as the city's attractions and events.
Because it looks almost as though it is in orbit above the intersection of Washington and Illinois streets, it offers a spectacular view of the city. Driving below it makes one feel as though he/she is hovering below the saucer section of Star Trek’s U.S.S. Enterprise. This unique facility is owned and operated by the Arts Council of Indianapolis.
The Artsgarden physically connects to the Claypool Court/Embassy Suites Hotel and the growing Circle Centre mall, one of the major forces behind the revitalization of downtown Indianapolis. And it is linked by an indoor skywalk to the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, Canterbury, Omni, Westin and Marriott hotels – a major advantage for conventioneers visiting during colder months.
The facility is available for rental to non-profit, corporate and government organizations, and is a very popular locale for wedding receptions. However it does not host personal events such as birthday parties or wedding ceremonies. It also offers extensive technical and audio-visual services. The center’s exclusive caterer is Ritz Charles, which can be contacted through the Ritz Charles web site.
