Traders Point Creamery: A 100% organically fantastic farm!

May 23, 2010

At Traders Point Creamery, the cows are used to provide the milk for their wholesome and award-winning cheeses, yogurts and ice creams. What’s more, visitors can purchase all of these products at either the creamery’s store, the Dairy Bar or in the Loft Restaurant. The American Cheese Society frequently honors the Creamery for their dairy products like the Fromage Blanc and Spicy Fromage, while their drinking yogurt is simply legendary among Hoosiers.

This family-owned dairy is a stimulating place to bring all members of the family. Tours are offered every day, rain or shine, and provide a chance to learn about milking and production. Take the self-guided tour and stroll around the grounds while visiting the chickens, and then venture out into the pasture to see the curious herd. You can even visit the milking parlor while peeking through the Creamery window to watch the production process. Guided tours are also available, and trail walks can be combined to include a hike through Eagle Creek. There is a small charge for these tours.

The Loft Restaurant serves brunch, lunch and dinner and their menu features 100 percent grass-fed burgers, homemade soups, salads and wraps. From the brunch menu, try the slow cooked Egg Scramble with Capriole Goat Cheese and local Shiitake Mushrooms. For lunch, sample Puttin’ on the Fritz – a warm whole wheat wrap loaded with grilled chicken, spinach, fresh peppers, mushrooms, Garden Herb Fromage, sun-dried tomato pesto and Fleur de la Terre cheese.

After lunch, head for the Dairy Bar and finish off with a homemade creamy milk shake, smoothie or ice cream. Flavors usually include Banana, Blackberry, Caramel, Sweet Cream, Chocolate, Mango, Strawberry and Vanilla.

HelloMetro Tip: Traders Point Creamery hosts a Green Market during the summer and winter months. See the company's website for more information.
