Radio Radio: Faithfully serving the underground music scene

May 30, 2010

Consistently considered for years as the best live music venue in Indianapolis, Radio Radio is a prime spot to catch some great music from great local, national and global acts. It is notorious for introducing Indy to bands that are on the verge of stardom, or artists who have already experienced their share of greatness.

Owned by an English gentleman commonly known among his patrons as “Tufty," Radio Radio is a relatively small, yet classy concert venue with 3,500 square feet of energy-filled ambience. It sports the reputation as housing one of the best sounding music rooms in the city and features one of Indy’s rarest of club/lounge environments – a non-smoking one.

The interior hosts a retro lounge area to relax and chill, as well as an elevated stage. The top-notch sound-system keeps artists and customers coming back to this establishment along with its enormous bar and happy staff. Radio Radio has played host to gigs, film festivals, private parties and charity events.

The live music range does not discriminate and every type of music is offered including country, punk, rock, Goth, jazz, the blues, and even Burlesque. Only quality artists and bands are housed here (no cover bands allowed!) and some of those deemed worthy of entering the Radio Radio arena have included The English Beat, New Model Army, The Vulgar Boatmen, Los Lonely Boys, Ember Swift and Bigger Than Elvis.

Radio Radio serves a wide selection of import and domestic beers, cocktails, spirits and wines.

HelloMetro Tip: You must be 21 or older to enter Radio Radio. Check out their website for a full schedule of events.
