The Corner Wine Bar: Find the grape for you at Indy's oldest wine bar

Jul 11, 2010

The Corner Wine Bar in the center of the Broad Ripple is something of an enigma. A petite bistro that everybody knows and adores, it can look a little too sophisticated for a low-key night out with friends – but don’t let the chic exterior fool you.

Attractive on the inside and out, this European style wine bar is a perfect setting for a romantic meal or a fun place to take friends for good wine, cheese, dessert and eclectic entrees. The interior is intimate with a snug bar area and separate dining room. On a balmy summer night, step outside with your wine onto the comfortable patio.

The menu offers some great cuisine. You can simply opt for a night of cheese and wine, pairing their varieties of cheese with warm walnut bread and a glass of vino. If you do fancy an entrée, just note that the food can be a little pricey and the sandwich section of the menu is only offered during the lunch hour. However, the payoff is that the portions are large and you can always share your fare. Recommended comes the Wine Bar Benedict, a buttered baguette grilled and topped with prosciutto, crab, fresh asparagus, fried eggs and creamy Béarnaise.

With over 150 fine wines and champagnes plus a wide selection of domestic and imported beers available, you are not likely to drink the bar dry. Try a flight of wine that suits and pair it with the cool Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee or the decadent Chocolate Mousse.

The Corner Wine Bar offers a wine series for connoisseurs and beginners. The annual wine tasting series runs September through April with all of Indy’s finest wineries presenting their own brand. Ladies can be especially delighted to try the Women & Wine series that meets one Thursday each month. The Bar also features live music on certain nights.

HelloIndianapolis Tip: Reservations are required for the wine series events. Hours of business are seasonal. Visit their website or call for more information.
