Crackers Comedy Club: two locations, one fun time
Published: Apr 21, 2009
Chris Rock, Tim Allen, Rosie O’Donnell, Jay Leno and Ellen Degeneres are among the stand-up comics who have graced the stage at Crackers Comedy Club, one of the best-known and best-loved comedy joints in the Circle City. The club's motto is "Changing the world, one joke at a time."
Since 1980, Crackers, now at two locations — one in downtown Indianapolis and the other in Broad Ripple — have entertained guests with a wild blend of the latest up-and-coming comics.
You can check out the upcoming comics online for the downtown location and the Broad Ripple site.
The club is open to those 18 and older with two forms of ID. For nonsmokers, Saturday and Sunday evening performances at 8 p.m. are smoke free. You can order tickets online for either location.
A local favorite is "Open Mic Night" on Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the Broad Ripple location. At the club's web page for Open Mic night, you can print out a coupon for two free admissions for that evening only, which are good through the end of 2009.
Both locations offer a variety of decent appetizers priced between $3.95 and $5.95 and reasonably prepared. Both locations' bars are well stocked, but as is typical for most comedy club drinks, expect to pay a premium for most cocktails.
Ticket prices run from $8 for regular seats to $10 or $18 for preferred seating, depending on the evening. Regular seats are first come, first served, so if you like to be right up front, go with preferred seating. But, in all honesty, any seat's a good one in both locations.
A two-drink minimum purchase is required, but they don't have to be alcoholic drinks. Crackers charges a 15 percent gratuity for parties of six or more.
