Taiwan Tea House: Discover true bubbly drinking!

Feb 25, 2010

Visit this small Taiwanese eatery and delve into the delights of bobo or bubble teas, as they are sometimes known.

Located on east 86th street, the owners of the Tea House, originally from Taiwan have created a clean, crisp and friendly dining area. And they certainly know their teas!

Boba tea originated in Taiwan and the tea is usually served cold. Your chosen tea is shaken with fruit juices, milk and laced with boba balls, which are made with tapioca. This magic ingredient gives it the bubbly outcome that makes drinking tea such fun.

A tea drinkers delight, most of the choices start at around $2.75 and you can have your pick of over 23 types, all mixed to your specification. The menu offers thirst quenching blends such as Kumquat Lemon Green tea, Coconut Red Milk (a slightly sweeter tea) and Honeydew Green Tea.  Of course, not everyone likes tea, so smoothies are also available.

Let’s not forget about the food attractions here. Although the Tea House offers traditional food choices like Crab Rangoon, Super Spicy Won-Ton and Chicken Lo Mein, it deserves kudos for serving an unusual array of vegetarian and vegan dishes, such as deep fried tofu, fried white turnip cake and Buddhist Delight.

All of the entrees are priced at the $6.99 mark and are typically served with soup.

HelloIndianapolisTip: This restaurant does not serve alcohol, so try the tea instead!
