H2O Sushi Bar: Traditional Japanese sushi with a South Korean twist!
Chris Choi liked the place so much he decided to buy it. Choi, a South Korean native, took ownership of H2O Sushi in July 2009, knowing exactly what he was getting into.
Having visited the restaurant on Broad Ripple Avenue in Indianapolis many times before, Choi created an intriguing menu and undoubtedly put his own distinctive stamp on it.
All of the food at H2O Sushi is freshly prepared, while all of their stocks are made from scratch. The food, although Japanese, has obvious Asian, African and American influences. Customers are encouraged to try the regular specials offered every day.
One recent daily menu special, for example, featured the BLT Spring Rolls, a concoction of Gunthorp bacon, romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes and kim chi remoulade wrapped with rice paper and served with bacon ponzu dipping sauce.
The list of Sushi is impressive. Customers choose from items like the Joe Pesci (shrimp, jalapeno, avocado and cilantro - $8.75), the Crazy Ho (California roll w/w tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado and tobiko - $12.00) and the 333.61 M.P.H. (tuna and avocado wrapped with salmon and lemon – $11.50). If you are feeling adventurous, indulge yourself in the Omakase, the Chef’s five-course tasting menu, priced at $50.
Before you sit down to eat, take a moment to gaze at the impressive artwork sprinkled around the restaurant, illuminated with subtle yet warm undertones.
Tucked away from the roadside and paired next to a clothes alterations store, the H2O Sushi Bar might get overlooked despite being a fixture for about 10 years. Seating is indoor only and parking is limited at the front. Extra parking is available at the back of the restaurant.
H20 Sushi has a comprehensive web site -- check it out before your first visit.
HelloIndianapolisTip: The H2O Sushi Bar staff is extremely friendly and will be happy to walk newcomers through their first Sushi experience – so ask them!
