Three Sisters Cafe: A heavenly whole food extravaganza

Apr 11, 2010

With an assortment of homemade and wholesome foods on their eclectic menu, the Three Sisters Café really does have a special relationship with Mother Nature’s fare. Primarily known as a breakfast diner, the cafe now serves lunch and dinner, and is truly a Vegan and Vegetarian’s haven.

Breakfast is served until noon on weekdays and until 3 pm on weekends. Try the Griddle Cakes and Bread, and then add a little something extra like raisins, nuts, bananas, fruit, berry sauce, granola, yoghurt or mixed berries. Sample the Breakfast Specialties like the Garden – three scrambled eggs with zucchini, summer squash, onion, mushroom, tomatoes, peppers, parsley, and goat cheese served with toast.

Experience something from the Things to Share section, like the avocado salad – avocado, tomatoes, lime, and cilantro and served with a frilled tomato tortilla. Or maybe the Mezza Plate – hummus, pesto, gorgonzola spinach dip, tomato and pineapple salsas, concasse, and pita.

The House Specialties are served Monday through Saturday from noon until close. If you love Mushrooms you simply must try the Mushroom Flagstaff – exotic mushrooms sautéed with tofu, peppers, and onions in a red wine reduction and served with rice and lentils.

If you are in to salads, you will be sure to find a winner on their “Salads You’ll Come Back For” section. Served with your choice of herb vinaigrette, your choices include the salmon salad – atop greens, avocado, carrots, tomato, and cucumber with goat cheese. Or perhaps the Asian – greens under grilled chicken breast, mandarin oranges, broccoli, almonds, and bean sprouts.

The interior of this old Broad Ripple building is bright and cheery while maintaining its Victorian country home style ambience. The food comes in large portions, so arrive at the Three Sisters Café hungry, and you will leave healthy and happy.

HelloIndianapolis Tip: The Three Sisters Café is a no smoking zone and reservations are not required.
