Union Jack Pub: Bringing Mother England to Indy’s shores for more than 30 years

Apr 12, 2010

The Union Jack Pub has been serving English and American fare since 1979 in the heart of Broad Ripple. Recreating the interior style of the quintessential English pub, the Union Jack continues to uphold many other English traditions too.

If you are looking for entertainment while you eat, there is no shortage here. The pub hosts a multitude of sports channels on their hi-definition TV’s which includes highlights of English soccer, golf, NFL and even Australian Football.

A hearty breakfast brunch is served on Sunday mornings until 2pm. You can try Eggs Benedict, Scramble Wraps, Porridge, Breakfast Potatoes, Hot Oatmeal, Sausage and Gravy, and even their famous breakfast pizza. Sluice your brunch down with a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa.

The entrees menu is a mixed bag of English and American cuisine. The traditional Fish & Chips are on offer - one piece of hand-breaded Icelandic cod with seasoned fries and slaw. Perhaps consider choosing what Indianapolis Monthly describes as the “best” burger in town - the Ultimate Burger. This is a juicy burger grilled and topped with smoked ham, crisp bacon, Swiss cheese, American cheese, tomato slices, lettuce and 1000 Island dressing on Texas toast.

The gourmet pizza menu is vast and very popular at the Union Jack. Choose between Chicago style, regular crust, New York thin Crust or Stuffed Pizza Pie. Try the 10” or 16” Deluxe Regular Crust Pie with their Signature Red Sauce and Special Blend of Mozzarella Cheese. This is topped by Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Green Bell Peppers and Yellow Onions.

For dessert, no English menu is complete without Mum's English Trifle - Pound cake, English custard, raspberry jam, cream sherry and whipped cream. Wash that down with a pint of your favorite English ale like Bass, Boddington’s, Newcastle or the heady Strongbow Dry Cider.

HelloIndianapolis Tip: After 3 p.m., don’t forget to ask about their Weekly Dine-In Specials.
