Tie Dye Grill: A groovy place for hippie chicks to chill

Aug 3, 2010

What a happenin’ restaurant to enjoy your food, man! Owners, Shayne and Jan Dye pay homage to a time when love, peace and understanding was all… and good food.

The interior is groovy, too, with a hip musical theme. Photos of Rock Gods like Jim Morrison and the Beatles are plastered around the walls, while Wednesdays are live music nights. The tables are naturally tie dyed with smiley sunflowers in the center, helping to make this Woodstock environment very laid back.

The food is good too. Indianapolis Monthly voted the Tie Dye’s BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and Onion Rings as Best Burger. Order a Tie Dye steak and it will come freshly branded with the Tie Dye Logo!

Lets talk about their creative menu. How could you go wrong with the Trippy Taco Salad – a salad topped with red chili, cheese, corn chips, jalapenos, salsa and sour cream? Or have the Flower Power Veggie Panini - slightly grilled green peppers, onions, tomato, mushrooms and sour cream. For those that like a Reuben, have the Rooperts Classic Reuben - corned beef, Tie Dye sauerkraut, Swiss cheese on light rye with home made Thousand Island dressing or spicy mustard.

The burger menu is extensive too. No frozen burgers here. The Tie Dye creates hand made 10 oz juicy patties and broils them to perfection. What about trying the Garcia Bistro Burger with Tie Dye bistro sauce, onion crisps and cheese? Have their aptly named Magic Mushroom Swiss Burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise with mushrooms and Swiss cheese on a toasted bun.

If poultry is more your thing, sample the Joplin's Chick, a breaded chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise on a toasted bun. The Woodstock New York Dog is topped with Tie Dye onion sauce with mustard and sauerkraut.

Wrap up your meal with a Tie Dye Nifty Brownie and contemplate your next trip. It’s far out, man.
