Mo’Joe Coffeehouse: A java joint by day with a twilight twist

Jul 18, 2010

With the popularity of coffee shops on the rise, Indiana is still seriously lacking in a good supply of independent places to compete with the coffee conglomerates that monopolize this line of trade.

The Mo’Joe Coffeehouse located on W. Michigan already welcomes a steady stream of Indiana University students and Downtown workers through its doors. Mo’Joe’s is great for a grab ‘n go sandwich or for a more relaxing meeting with friends to chat and chill.

The coffeehouse provides a cheaper alternative to the usual coffee chains, while the ambience is warm and casual. With comfortable couches, board games, and sketch pads for you to commit your doodles to, take time to look around at the local artwork that is rotated on a regular basis.

On hand at Mo’Joe’s are a healthy selection of salads, sandwiches, soup (winter only), plus muffins, scones, bagels, cookies, and brownies. But it’s the beverages that are the talking point here with the grinding of superior coffee beans from the Indianapolis based company, Julian Coffee Roasters. For a regular cup of house brew, you simply can’t beat the Sumatra.

If you prefer your coffee a little more exotic, highly recommended comes the caramel latte, the white chocolate mocha, or the breve. All drinks come hot or iced, and fixed to your specification. Also on offer are specialty cold drinks like Columbian Coolers and Fruit Smoothies.

Visit during the later hours when the lights are turned down for a good selection of new world wines, plus beers from local brewery Mad Anthony Brewing Company. For entertainment that goes with your beverage choice, check out their website to discover their live music schedule.

HelloIndianapolis Tip: Check out the weekly drinks specials: Wednesday - select beers, $1.25; Friday - fine wines, $3; Sunday - small latte, $2. Free WiFi service available.
