                                       About the Artist
Growing up in Detroit Michigan in the 50’s was a wonderful thing! The city offered tremendous educational opportunities to students who were talented and gifted, which Patricia became a part of at the early age of seven. Labeled as talented and gifted in visual adaptations, her artistic ability was quickly noticed and thus her career as an “artist in training” was launched. From that point on in her life, she was entrenched within the artistic movement and her education was planned well in advance. Patricia received her education from the Detroit Public School System, The Detroit Institute of Arts, and the prestigious School of Fine Arts at Wayne State University.   Although teaching has primarily been her main focus over the past years, she has been intensively involved with the advancement of community awareness for the arts. She was a founding member of Indy Renaissance, past Director of Youth in Arts, and Executive Director of Light Green Art Studios and Education Center. She is an active member of the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Indiana Arts association.

Patricia received special appointments from the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Art Center, Indiana Black Expo, Anderson Art Center, The Columbia Club, and Madame Walker Urban Life Center, just to name a few.   She has won numerous 1st Place and Best of Show titles, and she is the noted author of “The Art of Stress Management.”   One of Patricia’s most prized accolades was from the Coalition of 100 Black Women which she received the “Break-Through Woman of the Year for Arts and Culture” award in 1996. Patricia was honored in 2004 by the Indianapolis chapter of the National Links, Inc. as “Distinguished Artist”. Patricia is currently on staff at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, while exhibitions of her artwork continue both nationally and internationally.
