“New Augusta deffenitly seems to be the best of all pike township schools. I know many students from New Augusta that are very bright and intelligent. Most of whom carry out the rest of their education in the IB program at pike, or go to near by public schools such as Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Cathedral High School. Some even transfer to North Central High School, which is probably the best public high school in indianapolis. All in all New Augusta is a great school with greats students.”

“This is a great school! The teachers work in teams and most try to understand the students. Discipline is not a problem although some of the teachers like to make more of it by not realizing the behavior characteristics of adolescent children. The staff and teachers that don't complain so much about the kids are the ones that make the schools so great!.”

“I can't seem to understand why a parent is not informed about their child's academic or behavior progress at NAPAN. ePIKE is available to all parents to track their students progress daily. You can see your child's attendance/tardies, grades, lunch account, GPA, etc... Each teacher has the homework on their voicemail either weekly or daily. Letters are mailed home for students whose grades fall below a C. They also mandate that any student that failed the ISTEP take a remediation/preparation course. NAPAN administers an NWEA test in the fall and the spring to compare your child's progress for the year. Parent/teacher/student conferences are held for mid-term and at the end of each grading period. Whenever their is a behavior problem, missing assignments, or excessive tardies the student is instructed by the teach to get their parents on the phone to discuss the situation. I LOVE NAPAN Keep up the good work!”

“I do not like this school. The teaching staff is not suppotive. They do not keep you informed of your childs grades and conduct. I feel that the teachers really do not care. The staff (I used to volunteer at this school but had to quit because of the staff yelling at the children all the time. It is really sad. The sister school NAPAS is totally diffrent for the North campus. This year I will work hard to send my children to private school or locate to another county or township. This school also has alot of student fights and some gang activity.”

“My daughters have gone to both NAPA South & North, the teaching staff at each are outstanding. The teachers not only educate the kids in academics but they also learn how to be citizens in this world. I do agree with another parent that at North the kids are given an excessive amount of homework though. When the 'study hour' was taken out of their day it really made a difference. Uniforms at North starting 06-07 should be for all grades! Try a schedule of Monday-Thursday uniforms, with 'casual Friday'. Some of the elementary kids have been waiting 5 years to be done with uniforms. We have been at NAPA a long time and truly have had only good things to say...we hope we are heard this time.”

“New Augusta has the potential to be a great school, but it is currently lacking. Many of its staff assign excessive amounts of homework to a student population, that at age 11-14, is ill-equipped to effectively handle such a rigorous, daily load. Consequently, many New Augusta parents spend a great deal of time 'doing homework' with or 'teaching' their children after hours. Although it is an unfortunate situation, it can be changed if the administration makes a concerted effort to address the problem with both its staff and parents.”

“This is an overcrowded, mostly tension filled environment. The quality of the students and teaches is in a downward spiral.”

“I was impressed by the teachers keeping me informed on my son's conduct in school. I was able to meet with the whole team of his teachers at one time with and without my son's presences. We were able to communicate to each other our expectations of his progress in school. We also communicated after our meeting via email. The only thing that does not agree with my schedule is the parent teacher conferences. I would love to see something a little more intimate and personable, I appreciate the ablility to be able to schedule meetings with my child's team of teachers when it is more convient for all of us.”

“This school is great. Everything you need is at your fingertips. The music program is great. It consists of an orchestra for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Same with Band and Choir. There is also Drama club, MATHCOUNTS, Chess Club, Academic Team, Jazz Band, All School Choir for anybody at the school, and many more clubs. The 8th Grade takes foreign languages also. they are spanish and Chinese. They offer a chinese trip also. This is by far the best middle school in Pike Township.”

“I am currently a student here, and it's great. The teachers do care, and their very helpful. Especially now with the epike adress, you can cheak transcrips, lunch accounts, and much more. Also every three weeks, the students are given their progress reports. And most teachers e-mail the parents to let them know they're coming. The EC Activities are really great also. And I must admit that there are some bad things about the School. Like the Cafe food. Give me a school with good food. And the passing periods. Their only 3 minutes, but if you don't get a locker jam, or stay in the halls and talk, then you'll be alright. Other than that, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. It's a great school with great expectations. OH! And the Honors Program. It's really something to like, when you hate being held behind on easy stuff in class.”

“I have found the teachers to be less than helpful. They do not update the parents on the success or failure of the students. My child has gotten high test scores on the standardized tests, yet her grades have been poor. I believe that parents should be informed the moment that a child is falling below passing however I have found NAN does not exercise this principle. Parents and Faculty should be on the same page with the student, if in fact the ultimate goal is for our children to succed.”

“our time spent at new augusta has been short of fantastic. the teachers care about our students and the learning and growing enviroment is terrific. If there is any question about what is going on the staff is always there to help.”
